InTouch Grading System:

Welcome to the Intouch grading system. In our continuing effort to improve communication, we encourage you to use the InTouch system as a resource. This will enable us to work more closely in supporting your student(s) at South Salem. Listed below are a few reminders to help you understand the InTouch system a little better and how it interacts with teacher's grade books and grading practices. Thank you for your continued patience as we work to make this system more effective. Intouch is just one way to stay informed of your student's progress. There will be times when technical errors may occur, or information on individual classes may not be completely updated. Because of this, direct communication with your student's teachers remains the #1 way to stay informed.

If there are attendance discrepancies, we encourage your student to first communicate directly with the teacher and the teacher will communicate with the attendance office if necessary. If you have questions regarding your student's grades or assignments, an email link to their teacher is listed next to the class they teach. This allows for direct communication with individual teachers.

Intouch is updated every evening by District Technology. However, your student's grade will likely not change with each update. Teachers frequently update grades and usually have grades entered within one week of receiving completed assignments. However, this is only a guideline as some assignments may take longer to grade than others (i.e. essays, research papers, major projects, major lab reports, etc). In this case, you may not see an update on your student's grade for more than a week. Some curriculum areas have different needs in terms of grading. As an example, classes with a heavy focus on participation will likely post grades more infrequently than once week. Classes with a larger number of major projects may not as well. Each teacher has their own policy for late work and extra credit. These may be dealt with differently than other assignments. As with any technology, there may be times when something is not working correctly. Please allow a few days for our technology staff to correct the issue prior to contacting the school.
